Still kicking

July 30th, 2008

Since I’ve been on a virtual blog tour, I haven’t had much time to blog on my own site.  I’ve been answering questions from so many reviewers, there just hasn’t been much time.  Since my last post, my family and I have gone camping at Bear Lake, Utah.  Of course, we had three laptops, my iPhone 3 DVD players and TV’s.  We really know how to rough it.  It was a holiday weekend, and the place was packed, but being with family made it all worth while.  There were a few sun burns, but we did pretty well.  I had a chance to read The Santa Letters by Stacy Gooch-Anderson.  It’s really a great book.  I’ll likely talk more about that later.  Anyway, there are still two more weeks on the Virtual Book Tour, so I may not write much until after the tour is done, but if you click on the links in the events page, you’ll see plenty of my ramblings.

The wheels are moving

July 7th, 2008

Well, things are really starting to move with my book, Caught in the Headlights.  For starters, in mid July I’m going on a virtual book tour.  27 sites in 30 days!  I’ll be a virtual road warrior, to be sure.  Virtual jet lag, virtual frequent flying miles, the works.  I think I’ll take off my shoes and all metal objects for each one so I really get in the mood.  But seriously, I’d definitely like to thank my friend Candace Salima for helping put all this together and for showing me some of the ropes.  The book’s now available on most major online bookstores and will be on the shelves of major bookstores soon.

I’m amazed at the entire book publishing process.  I come from a high-tech background where software or websites are published instantaneously.  Here, each bookstore chain is its own empire and each one must be dealt with carefully and thoughtfully.  My marketing back ground helps and times and can get in the way a bit, as I learn how to dance to this tune.  Still, the experience is great and I’m loving every bit of it.  Anyway, I’ll post the tour schedule in the next few days.

Welcome Aboard

June 9th, 2008

To be honest, I’m very uncomfortable creating a site about well, me.  I’ve never named any of my kids after myself (former heavyweight champ George Foreman should buy name offset credits from me for naming all four of his boys after himself), nor has my name been attached to any business that I’ve owned.  Not that I’m the most reclusive, unassuming person.  Just ask someone that knows me.  Still, it’s not my style.  But, my publisher thinks having my own website is a great idea, so I’m blaming him.  The truth is, I just plain love to write and this site gives me another outlet for what I love to do.

If you haven’t had a chance to read my first book, Caught in the Headlights, surprisingly you can buy one, or several, right here.  In fact, I autograph every copy sold through this site.  I know, I know… you’re amazed that I can keep up with the landslide of orders.  Trust me, it’s not as great a burden as I’d like…
